Re: Clown fish defending anemone? I have had my tomato clown for about 5 months. about 2 months ago I bought a bubble tip anemone. For several days the clown wouldn't go near the anemone, so I caught the clown and the anemone and put them in a specimen tank together, left them overnight, and now they are best friends. and all of my other fish leave the anemone alone. Anemones have stinging cells. The only fish that isn't affected by this sting is a clownfish. Carpet anemones are the most powerful. The best anemones for clowns is a bubbletip, a carpet, long tentacle, or sebae. But the easiest to care for are the bubble tip. They do require good lighting. If you are trying a condy anemone, they can lead to trouble. They move around too much and are likely to get sucked into a filter or powerhead. Clowns wont have anything to do with them either.
