| A true percula typically have three white bars and black strips next to the bars. The black stripes can vary in thickness. I think they also have 9 or 10 spines on their dorsal fin. A false percula has three white bars as well, but the black strips may not be present or are usually thin. The dorsal fins on a false perc typically has 11 spines.
