Default Haitian pink tip anemone

I got a haitian pink tip anemone yesterday and he's been moving around all over the tank. Is that normal? I started him near the front close to a rock and he moved into the rock and then later he moved around back of the rock....and this morning he's on the other side of the tank. Is it normal for them to move around a lot at first? Thanks

I have heard it is very normal. From the sounds of it, he is just trying to find 'his' spot. Where it likes it best! (at least from what I understsand!)

Yes it is normal, once it finds its spot it will usully stay there for a while and might move again in the future. Try not to let it get too close to any corals, It can kill them. I myself have one of these anemones and it has taken out some of polyps.

My one clown is hosting mine. You have a good chance they will if they were hosting an anemone at the store.

I used to feed my anemones 1/2 a silverside, once a week, but they grew and split too often so I stopped feeding them and they have done good for the past 2 years without any spot feedings. If I were to go back to feeding my anemones, silversides would be my first choice.

Anemones will wonder when stressed out and new to a tank. Make sure that you keep all of your powerheads covered so they can't get sucked in.

I feed mine live brine once in a while. I find it interesting that when I put the shrimp in if it floats away from the anemone my clown will grab it in its mouth and bring it back to it.

Icon6 Re: Haitian pink tip anemone

I just recently setup a tropical saltwater fish tank. I consider myself to be an intermediate hobbyist as my father has always had a saltwater tank since I was little.

My concern today is that I just got a haitian pink tip anemone last week and it really hasn't moved around in my tank much. I've had to move him from the back to the front where he will get more light. I'm also experiencing that he keeps shrinking and inflating, is this normal? Why is he doing this?

I've been feeding pieces of krill. I also have a small false clown who has taken to the anemone very well. I'm not sure if my anemone is in the process of dying or if it's just acting like this because that's how he is. Ocassionally I will find a ball that looks like brine but I'm not sure if it's something from the anemone. Can someone tell me what that is?

Can someone please give me some tips on caring for and keeping my anemone healthy and long living? Thanks a bunch!!!
