 rose BTA spawn ever seen a anemone spawn before??? interesting stuff. went on for about 30 minutes it was a white milk like substance came from its mouth .. looked like smoke in the water... very cool looking... unfortunately I was so fascinated by the event I forgot to take photos.. so I guess my rose is a male. don't know what got him so excited that he decided to get his freak on, it is only him and my Ritteri anemone in the tank with my fish... oh well just thought I would share.. here is a pic before... and after     |

| Re: rose BTA spawn Monitor its health. Mine did that right before it kicked the bucket. If it is ill there isn't a whole lot you can do though... |

| Re: rose BTA spawn BTAnemRMF Elliott, they release gametes. This says in the Spring during a full moon cycle...it sure isn't Spring yet (my broken furnace tells me it isn't) but we did just have a full moon.

| Re: rose BTA spawn That is interesting, I never knew anemones did that, I always thought only corals do that. just goes to show you can learn something new every day.

| Re: rose BTA spawn its funny just after I watched it last night I watched discovery and they had the blue planet special and it showed an anemone doing this. the males release sperm and the females release eggs, they meet up in the water and the larvae land wherever.. here is an interesting video of someone else that filmed it. http://www.youtube.com/v/u8LGZaezpV8&rel=1 and here is a related link Tank of the Month - May 2005 - Reefkeeping.com |

| Re: rose BTA spawn did anyone else wonder how long he was tapeing to get that on film .. do they do this more than once (like every day for a week) or is it once a year?
