Default Another Stupid Anemone Thread

I must either be a magnet for stupidity or a glutton for punishment.... although they're not mutually exclusive.

Found a beautiful green-tipped white/brown sebae for the clowns. They seem to have finally gotten what anemones are for, although only when put in front of their faces.

Problem is, this anemone is supposed to anchor himself in the sand. But no, has to be different. Won't anchor to anything including rock cracks when he's placed on one. Just seems to float around the tank, bumping into anything and everything like he's out sightseeing.

I know they go where they wanna go, but any new thoughts on this? I'm ready to get a piece of string and tie him to a rock (OK, just kidding for those of you who might take me seriously, which apparently would be very few of you...)

Im having a similar issue with a lta, settled down nicely for like 3 days where I first put it, then it moved on its own and found a spot it stayed in for a week, hasnt attached anywhere since then, constantly floating around the back of the rockstack. Ive got a mesh cage over it atm and its upright, fully inflated, nice tight mouth, and not attached, lta's are supposed to dig into the sand to a rock base or the bottom of the tank, but mine is perfectly happy just sitting on top of the sand.

Not in mine. And on the positive side, it seems to have found a spot - not a good one, of course, but at least it seems to be considering a possible stay. Yesterday, it seemed to prefer to hand upside down right above the sand.....

Typically sebae anemone's prefer to attach their foot to substrate, or wedge in a crevace, at least this is what Ive read. They require bright light, and excellent, stable water quality. As a general rule the tank should be running atleast 6 months before adding an anemone.

our previous ones always anchored in a crevice, and our first one in this tank did as well, although he slowly moved out of the light. The other one is clearly not as smart.... We did get the first (smarter...) one into a place with more light today, and he seems to be staying (for now). A little more flow (not much, but some) as well in the new spot, which usually seems to be good for them.

We had a few Rose's in the old tank that refused to come out into the light, and our green bta's are split - one in the light, one in the dark....

I've learned to accept them but feel compelled to complain about them anyway....
