I have two Ocellaris clowns, and i was wondering what kind of anemone they will host in. Any help would be awesome, thanks!

I would say try a ritteri or carpet anemone

Ok, thank you. Are there any precautions you would suggest about either of these anemones? I also have a yellow tail damsel and a purple stripe dottyback, and emerald crab and a Margarite snail. Will any of these inhabitants cause a problem?

Haddoni, Long Tentacle Anemone, Bubble Tip Anemone, Carpet, are all popular hosts for the ocellaris clownfish just be careful of your damsel because they can be aggresive and have a tendency to nip and be bossy in the tank.

Well, I'm going to have a brand new T5 light fixture come end of this week; 36"long, 6x 39w bulbs for 234total watts. This puts my lighting around 4.5watts/gal; but as I understand it, it matter what type of light as well. Didn't want to go with metal halide and these were the next best things.

I'm considering getting a frogspawn coral instead of the anemone, but not ready to decide yet, still researching... thanks for any suggestions!

Frogspawn can live in PC lighting but watts/gal has nothing to do with how good the lights are...it's depth penetration and metal halides do it best

that's why i went with the individual reflectors too! Planning on putting lowlights at bottom and everything else should be fine at middle-top of course. I'm just excited I'm getting better lights, really interested to compare before and after pictures!

Thanks for the tips!

I have found that clowns take to the Long Tentacle Anemone quickly. And those require less light than most. But they can also get quite large and tend to move more often than others.

The Ritteri is probably the most difficult anemone to keep. The Haddoni carpet is pretty hardy but, not a natural host for the occelaris clown. The other carpets that are a natural host for that clown are almost as difficult to keep as the ritteri. With a little time and patience the occelaris should accept a bubble tip anemone.
