Default huge carpet

Hey everyone I bought a huge carpet anemone the other day and it was really cool looking after acclimation but its severely ugly now my water is great the tank has been up for a year with no issues but the thing just secretes slime like crazy I mean like 8 inch long strings of slime just waving around the water it will fill up and look good then go back to shrunk down and slimy every few hours I gave it a piece of silver side and it took it in its mouth then a couple hours later it spit it back out covered in slime.

When you say "great water," what exactly are your parameters (eg. salinity, ph, temp., etc.) ? What type of lighting are you using ? Anemones require a good amount of lighting. Unfortunately, a 40 is a little small for a carpet anemone. Depending on what type you have they can exceed 20+ inches!

never mind the water params I checked them this morning and my nitrates are off the charts. The day I put it in there they were great. Did a 25% water change and ditched the carpet I didnt want my other stuff getting sick I bought the thing from petco I shoulda known. When I pulled it out it stunk like hell. Gotta keep the other stuff in there safe so staying away from those from now on.
