Default Help My Anemone!!!!!! ;(

i recently did a water change two days ago, today i came home and it is not puffed up at all! its almost shriveled in the back of the tank (it didn't move, it just seemed to not extend its foot upward, just laid itself on the floor of the tank...) it is a haitian anemone. my maroon clown is still trying to keep inside it though is that ok? or is it making it worse?
the first thing i did was check the salinity, it was too high, so i just got done putting some fresh water to balence it out (don';t know if that was the problem). I've had it for over 2 months and this has never happened... i only have a power compact standard coralife light that seems fine for the live rock... and i have no other anemones or corals. is it the light power? because i heard that this type of anemone would do fine under low wattage lighting!?
the only other thing that has changed is that i was feeding him every other day for a month and then i herd that was too many times. so then i started feeding him once a week.... i don't know what to do HELP!!!!!!!!!

OK, dont freak out lol. anemones when they eat alot like urs has to expell some waste right? well that is how they will do it! brown slime "poop" will come out of its mouth, it might of already happened. this is probally the case.
As for your lighting, most people will say upgrade... dont do it "unless you want to" anemones do not need intense light, with the exception of the h. Magnifica and carpet anemones.
Believe me when i tell you. i have a 20 gallon all anemone tank with about 20 different anemones and the light is 2 tubes af normal output lighting, i keep tube anemones, condys, sebaes rocks, bta's, and LT anemones, in the same tank, the tak has been set up for about 1.5 years.
good luck. Sean

sorry, i just hate it when i think i might have killed something!
i don't know if it "pooped" out anything, but you seem to know what your talking about!
do you think it might have been the water quality?
it seemed to be doing better when i was feeding it more often? should i feed it again soon?
and is it ok if my maroon clown keeps bugging it?
thanxs!!

ok well you said your salinity was "high", how high was it? as for feeding i feed all of mine 3 times a week "krill". also test your water for everthing, also give it another couple days before you feed it again. and also if the anemone is anchored than no the marron is not bugging it or hurting it, but if it isnt anchored than it probably is bugging it.

I personally would not dose iodine as its not needed for your tank. As for the other things mentioned make sure you are testing for these things before dosing them. Very important rule in the salt hobby. Please adhere to it.

Iodine is important for creatures that molt (Shrimp and Crabs), if you want to dose it make sure you test or know when to add it; but normal water changes should be enough. The other item that I believe uses a lot of iodine would be Xenia, can't say for sure because it never grows in my tank (until lately; different variety) but if you don't have anything that requires it and it doesn't sound like you do your normal water changes should be enough.

when you guys feed your anemone, how do you do it? i have a carpet anemone(pic is in the nano thread), i usually just take a small piece of frozen krill, just place the whole piece up against it and it will just grab it and pull it in. it doesnt have to be chopped up does it? i have been feeding him like this for a week now without any problems. he seems content sitting at the very top of the rock under the light hanging out, doesnt seem to bother anyone or anything and his color has remained constant, no signs of stress or illness.
