Default Dead BTA?? W/ pics

please tell me if my BTA is ready to go to the big ocean in the sky, its in QT now so no harm to my display tank. i only found out about a week ago that you need a 9-12 month system for most anemones... my bad, should have done my research.

What kind of lighting do you have?

What kind of flow?

what are your water paramaters?

Oh, and how long has it been in QT for?

PC 6.5 wpg

it put itself in a high flow area

water params were perfect last time i checked (lfs checks for free when i go in every week) i dont know exactly, but i can check right now give me a few secs.

just put it in my QT its been looking poorly for 2 weeks now, not wanting to eat, opening and shutting many times a day. like i said, my setup is only 3 months old, thats probably the problem. i dont have much hope for the lil guy.

It doesnt look to be dying yet, Its well footed. I cant really tell is the mouth nice and tight?
Does it move around a lot in your display, or did it find a spot and stay there?
What foods are you attempting to feed it, many anemones have a specific food that they respond to and will ignore others, My first LTA would only eat fish, totally rejecting krill, mysis and other food particles.

When new to a tank many anemones will draw in and expell water till they are used to the water in your tank. I would try to reduce the nitrates if you can but that usually happens on its own over time as long as you arent over adding nutrients.

If he is opening up a few times a day, I think he might be fine. Just keep a close eye on it.

try to not feed it for 2 weeks or so. In nature they do not get food 2-3 times a week like you are feeding it. I have heard of people who do not feed their BTA at all because it has the zooxanthallae in it which gives it its nutrition.

i havent fed it for 2 weeks or more already because it wont eat. and the spot it was in my tank it wasnt getting hardly any light. i feel like the reason its so sick is because i added it too soon, i dont want it to die but i dont think my lfs will take back an anemone that looks this bad even if it were to save its life.

You should get your params. good ,but he wants light not food, try to keep him at the top.but they usually move around until the are happy, and then they will usually stay there for a while.mine got funky for a while once, but about a month later i found a baby in my sump.it was great but i dont think yours is spawning.good luck.
