Default hosting help?

Is there anything you can do to help your clowns find their intended anemone? lol

I have 2 false percs and a green BTA. i have tried feeding them over the anemone, creating more flow in their fav part of tank, to get them to try a new spot, talking to them!

Any ideas?? anyone else ever come up with something brilliant??

All you can do is wait, wait, and wait some more.

Unfortunately, not all clownfish end up pairing with anemones.

And even when they do, it can take a couple months or more.
Sorry to break this unfortunate news

if the clowns have never been around an anemone before it may take time for them to build up the resistance to the anemone on their body. my clowns took to the anemone immediately so i can't say other than that.

i've heard of people showing the clowns a picture of clowns hosting in anemones to give them the idea.

heres what i did with my false percs and their BTA, i took them and put them in a smaller area where they would be more likely to touch the BTA, once they brush up against it, it will sting them and they are able to create their slime coat to protect them. and for some reason, after they touch it they remember what their ancestors did in the wild. some people may not approve of this method but i was there to keep an eye on everyone and it only took about 30 min for mine.

You can try the old live brine shrimp with garlic extract trick...together it is almost irrisistable to any fish. Just shoot some near the anemones tentacles and hopefully your clowns will associate their new home with food !

How's the vortechs working out for you ?

That trick has worked for me. Tape a couple pictures of a clownfish hosting in an anemone in the same area of the tank where the anemone is located. Often, it will get a clown to host within a week or two.
