okay, guys, I really need some help here, as most of you know, I really want to setup a reef tank... now my tank is a 110g. 5ft. long, 23in. tall, and 18in. wide, will you guys shoot some opinions to me on the right lighting, I will need for the reek tank, just not sure on the watts, or 10k, 12k ,14k, so forth and so on.thanx

come on guys, I really am new at the whole reef setup, just don't want to go into it blind, any help................hello , anyone there. LOL

If it were me I would get two 250 watt MH with the real good reflectors that will help spread it it out over five feet (luminaric reflectors come to mind) now if you want to add VHO, t5's or Power compacts for actinics you could go with 10k bulbs that look a little yellow(use actinic to balance out) and you will get super growth. If you only want to put MH on your tank use 14, 15 or 20 k bulbs that give you a little more blue look. Personally I like the look of Radium bulbs using a Icecap Ballast (HQI is another option but the bulbs lose PAR faster) I get a nice crisp light with this and a decent PAR (from sanjays lighting test) from the setup.
