Losing he's legs

I bought a green brittle star 3 days ago, at first i thought he was dead because he wasn't moving. I have other starfish and have no problem. But this one is losing all he's legs and just sitting there. He is alive does anyone know what could be happening. My water is good, temp. is good. dingyd
