nitrate trouble

i have had trouble with my nitrates now for about a mounth and half. ive put a reactor with nitrate away media, ive used carbon, ive changed my water every two weeks (40gal), ive got a refigum set up in my sump, dont know what else to do. the tank is a 180 gal reef no coral yet i have about 170pounds of live rock and about 3 to 4 inches of live sand tank has been going for about 4 mounths. i have five fish and only feed them once a day one pinch of dry food. (ph 8.2, alk 9,cal 450, phos 0, n02...

Refugium Lighting 24/7 or 12/7 ????

I would like to know everybody's opinion on this issue. Me and my Mom have recently added refugiums to our Reef Tanks and would like to know what lighting will produce the best results.

Algae Blue's

hi, i haven't been marine keeping for very long and im getting some hectic things growing in my tank. i have these massive green bubble things appearing all over the place are they a good or bad thing? i have noticed that one or two have popped dont know if this will affect the water. i also have this red plant growing is that also a type of algae it has yellow spots when just under the marine blue. and finally i have loadsa grass like fur growing on my LR's how can this be kept to a minimum because...

Biocube!!!!!!!!

I got a Biocube 8 with a few corals in it. I have had it for about 3 months now and i just wanted to know what are the best mods i can do for it as of right now.

Hello everyone,
My first blog/post....but I wanted to share some pics of my tank (150) that I have owned for about 4 years now. It has been geat and the best hobby I could invest in. I do have a question that I would appreciate some help with...and that is nitrates....I never had a problem until recently and nothing seems to work....its affecting my invertebrates and I have lost a couple of stars, shrimp, etc...also whenever I add snails they seem to last for about 1 week.....everything...
