I am going to frag my star polyp. What equipment would be best? A scalpel? I need to do some shopping.

A cheap and clean razor blade, a piece of rubble rock, and a rubber band or super glue GEL (loctite is the best IMO).

Cut your frag off with the razor, pat dry the piece of rubble rock, pat dry the back side of the frag, apply some super glue gel and press it on, OR you can rubberband it to the rock without glue, or do both

Very simple on a very forgiving coral

Elliot, I suppose calling me by my name is better than calling me something else.
I will take pictures...but I will only post if I am successful.

OK, so my battery died while I was in the middle of fragging. It isn't that important, but I am sure I will be fragging these again. I am lucky, I have a huge piece of matting to work with and many loose spots where the matting isn't attached to anything. I used a scapel, Krazy K suggested a razor, just as efficient. The matting is easy to cut through. I patted a frag of LR down to where it was just damp and applied Loctite Super Glue. I also used a rubberband for a better hold until I am sure it is secure. I only had the main frag out for as long as it took for me to cut and then quickly put it in a bowl of saltwater. I have hitchhikers on that specimen that I would like to keep for awhile (a couple of bivalves and some tunicates). If you have your gear together, this process only takes a couple of minutes. The main coral is slowly sprouting back out and the other chunk (about the size of a silver dollar is slowly coming around, not as quickly, but it was handled more.

Once this gets posted I can frag my peach brarium (sp?) if anyone would like some. It's almost like having pink grass waving in the water. I love it! But it's starting to spread really far.

Yes, videos! That helps to see EXACTLY what to do instead of a picture of what it looked like and what it is now. I like seeing the 'inbetween' of how you got there!

I know this is an old post and Krazy has his move and his new210 gallon but I would love to see how exactly to attach any sort of corals wheather there polyps, leathers, or mushrooms to exsisting live rock. I always figured (and maybe this is b/c I don't have a tank yet) that you just buy them as is and just drop the rock with the aforementioned coral into your tank. But now I'm seeing(or should I say reading) that you can cut it off and attach it another way. This would be very cool to learn how to do.
