Default Question about bleaching coral

Hello,

I am currently deployed overseas in Africa and got the chance to go to the beach and walk around in the shallows. I found some very nice pieces of coral and I decided to grab them. They looked dead from the color minus a little alga on a big piece. I was told that you should bleach the coral. I wont be returning to the states for another three months and I know the coral would have started to smell not so nice so I bought some bleach and soaked them in a mop bucket overnight. they are defiantly white with no life left on them (the alga). I was talking with a friend about if it is safe to put in a reef tank when I get it built up and he said I will have a problem getting the bleach out of the rock.

does anyone know what methods I can do to the coral to help get the bleach out? Can I set it out in the sun for a month and let it bake out? Its about 130 to 140 degrees over here all day everyday.

Thanks in advance.
Tom

Soak them for a while in plain water.

Ok, should I do this on a daily basis until I leave or should I do it for maybe a week or so.

Will the sun help pull the bleach out of the coral?

thanks for the reply.
