Default Starting New prop Tanks

I will start a 10 gallon frag tank during the month of November if I can find 2 more people here at RB that will do the same and post some pics here.

Any takers?

Rules are start a minimal 10 Gal frag tank and put 3 frags in it to start. Any frags at all!

Hmm, I have a 45 that would be perfect, the tank is 16" deep and I have an extra light that would give me 4.3 wpg of PC. I plan to be at a frag swap next weekend so that would give me a great start.

Do you think my PC lights would be enough? In reality the eggcrate would be about 8"-10" under water surface.

I could see myself going Zoo crazy!!

OK, count me in on this, I will be using a spare 55 that I have, I plan to use about 30" on 1 side of the 48" for a frag/prop tank and then try to do a small sump/fuge in the remaining 18", will have a remote DSB, LR rubble/chunks in bottom of the prop tank,

Should we each start a thread on the builds or keep everything all on 1? I belive elliot has a thread started from a little while back.

This site might be helpful in this topic as much as I hate to redirect RB ppl other places. www.uberfrags.net, Nice group of ppl with some huge prop tanks/rooms.

Looks like its gonna be game on Huh? Ill start getting my stuff around. Just going to be very simple. Old tank light, ten gal tank, mj400 and a 50w heater. Very minmalist.
Pretty much the same as a QT. Might try and put a small half divider of sorts in it so one side has very little flow.

I am thinking of getting some spare plexiglass, and making a good 6-8 inches of the tank a DSB from top to bottom. and then get a bit of egg crate and put some cheato in there.

Sounds Much easier than my plan, Ive been going back and forth on the in tank fuge/sump. Think its gonna be back to the remote DSB, which will be a 5 gallon tank with 6"-8" of LS and some cheato, Set on a shelf above of the Tank.

I have the 55 partially filled about 35-40 gallons, half water from water changes and other half new ro/di salt water which I will finish filling with, I have about 40-50 lbs of LR rubble/pieces in the bottom of tank,
with a 600gph return pump running for now. I plan to add my pc light, heater, mech filter, and to have my PVC pipe ran for my flow I hope by thursday to be able to build my frag racks and if I didnt cause to bad of a mini cycle I will have frags in there by Saturday evening

I am going to forget the whole in tank sump/fuge instead what I will do is have an remote DSB, I will also do like elliott mentioned with the egg crate and cheato.

I will post some pics of where I am so far later on. So is anyone else gonna jump on the frag train with us?

I found a place online where I can get over 100 zoo poylps, 10-12 poylps per frag 10-12 frags of different colors & sizes, $70.00 shipped overnight

Thanks John. This is just what I needed to push me into this instead of putting it off.

Frag tank before DT? Might be a real good idea.

I am still going to get a DT before a frag tank. I could really easily make the 20 that i was going to use as a sump into a frag tank but i really want some fish. Fish, for me at least, are the reason that I am going to do this. Corals will come later though of course...lol

Looks like there is going to be 3-4 of us growing some frags!!! Im just going to get a cheap 20gal long this weekend. That will be much better since I have the light for it already. Looking forward to seeing if we can grow some good looking corals!

In case Krazy sees this post he ought to know he started all this frag tank stuff several months ago. I bet he thought it fell on deaf ears. No need to respond to this post as you probably wouldnt anyway, but thanks Keith.

So...who is all in on this? Got my tank from wally world. Great looking peice of chinese craftsmanship! I now find out the little 50W heater doesnt work...so...back to the store!

Aint life Grand! I will pick one up in the next couple days and hopefully be set up by the end of the week. Hey, I have to get some frags!

Also want to put a plug in for Tank of the Month. I hope we can get 10 tanks posted this month. That would be awesome. Please post some pics of your tank there so we can see everybodys progress! Seeing others tanks is a great way to share ideas!
