too large tree coral?

I have a kenya tree coral that was growing rather fast and reaching the top of my tank.
infact i was considering cutting a few limbs and propagating them. (a bit timid on doin this)
but now it has become weak and limp. could i have posibly waited too long?
can a tree coral out grow it space? my water tested fine. any ideas???

They say that the Kenya tree is easy to propagate by cuttings. I would just take a large section and cut a good clean swipe with a razor blade, (box cutter) then glue it to a different piece of live rock, close to the top, in a quiet place with little current. Do you have a picture of it? I understand that it is nourished primarily by the photosynthetic products produced by its symbiotic algae. If it is SO big, perhaps it can not feed itself properly. Since it is the photosynthetic species that needs very strong light, perhaps some of its lower brances are in shade and needs to be "halved" or pruned to allow the lower branches to get more light.

after a lot of disapointment from trying to sew and let self attach in a bowl of crushed aragonite and some loss to protozoa to a very large colt coral that i have cut about 10 times i have the best luck cutting just below the y and i use a zip tie between the y to tie it down kind of snug for a couple of weeks it will attach and grow around the tie wich can be cut off later and without piercing the coral any more than needed

I have Kenya tree coral growing larger and larger so will think on cutting it back soon....
I imagine our corals can all outgrow their space...isn't that why we keep getting bigger tanks?

I just noticed that my other post did not bring up the web site correctly, here is another site that you could click to for help on propagation.

I just fragged some of my Kenya tree, It's not very hard and it took well. The frag and the origional piece were open again in a couple hours and completely back to normal overnight. The main problem that I had was getting the frag to stay glued to the substrait, so I might try the thread or toothpick method.
