Alright, so I got my frag tank lights. My frag tank is a 20g long with 130w of PC (65w 12k amd 65w actinic)

Anyway, a lot of people here had wanted to see some fragging videos, so I thought why not me? I fragged colony polyps, button polyps, giant sun polyps, mushrooms and purple and rusty gorgonians...

me too! It has been a few month in planning and then with the long delay with shipping bottom line, I have the tank now and am happy! If you have any leather corals to frag, post your video here. I have a toadstool, but it is not big enough to be fragged right now.

Thank you! Hopefully some other people will add other coral prop tips. I will be fragging some cabbage leather soon, possibly tonight. I am not even sure if there is a certain way to do it, but I will be experimenting the best way to do it.

I love the sound track for the videos. And in the last video when you had the tank under another tank, is that an air intake for a car, because it is shockingly similar it looked like, lol.

inside of the top tank? that is a 600gph overflow box lol... BUT, I definately could see how it could be mistaken for an intake.

Anyway, that top tank will be my see grass tank. Then the 2 tanks will be connected.

elliot, when you were cutting off the polyps and mushrooms and glueing them, did you cut off some of the rock the polyps and mushrooms were connected too and then glue it? you cant put superglue on actual live corals can you and glue them straight to rock right? i thought it killed them? seems like everytime i glue something too close it dies. if you make any other videos...see if you can get someone to get some real close up shots of your hands and the corals, was very interesting.

sure, I plan on fraggin a bunch more tonight or tomorrow, depending on what I am doing. As for super glueing, you cut the polyps/shroom as close to the base as possible, then super glue it to the rock. The actualy polyps/shrooms base is glued. The shrooms are tough one because they are so slimey that when the glue touches them it doesnt stick becasue of all the mucus. I will have to try to develope another way to frag them a bit better. I will get some nice close ups of my hands doing the work tonight or tomorrow.

OK, so I just got done fraggin around 30+ colony polyps, another mushroom with a different technique(sp?) and a cabbage leather coral. I will edit the videos just like I did last time.

Anyone have any other types of coral they want me to frag?

hey elliot...i think i am about ready to try and frag some of my mushrooms and my yellow polyps.

so, as long as i get some of the center of the shroom(the mouth) on each piece i should be good right?

also, instead of supergluing them, i could just take all the little pices and put them in a small container of rubble rock with a cover and let them attach to the rocks as they please correct? i havent had alot of luck with super glue lately so i think i'll try mothernatures approach.

any other tips? i have some nice green shrooms that i would like to frag, along with some dark blue(i am color blind so they could be purple).

I would put the shrooms in the contianer, but just superglue the polyps. Polyps take a much longer time to attatch (depending on the type).

And yes. When you cut the shrooms, try to get a piece of the mouth too. If you dont get the mouth, I am pretty sure it will still grow, but not 100%.

thanks for the tips. i found a nice container to use for the frags and my wife is a knitting and craft fanatic, plus she works at a fabric and crafts store so i have more tool and/or bridal veil than we know what to do with. the whole family is gone tomorrow so i'll actually have time tomorrow to play with my tank.

i wish fish could wear hats..i would have my wife knit them some hats, could make up my own lil circus.

Just a little bit of an update, I moved my frag tank and seagrass tank to my basement where it is looped into my 55gdt and 20g sump.

No, that pic was when I first moved it. There is sand in there now, and I have the "tennis court" lights mounted too.
