Default Green striped Mushrooms HELP!

i bought a rock that has 6 green striped mushrooms ok now they looked GReat at the store, and now its been 3 days since i put them in my tank and there a light brown color ... WHY ! will it change back ??? cuz i need to change my lights cuz their old, its one or 2 96 watt lights am not sure but i no there more than a year old so ill change them tommarow .. and the secound problem is the mushrooms are touching eachother .. thats fine right????????????????????

40 gallon Reef with a 20 gallon high sump- One Yellow Wrasse, 2 Chromis, Hermits, Snails, one Sand Sifting Tiger Starfish, one fighting conch, and Corals- one frogs spawn coral, one Green striped and purple mushroom rock, one orange mushroom frag, one hybrid mushroom rock, purple glove xenia, Tan xienia, 2 differnt types of green star polyps, Two Cynarina corals, , one Fox coarl, one button polyp rock , one yellow scroll coral, one Big Orange Montipora capricornis, one 2 mouthed Orange Ricordea Mushroom, Two Blue Maxima clams , One Red Scolly, One Big Yellow Trumpet Coral, and some yellow Zoas.

I dont know what lights you have but over a year they need to be changed.And yes it ok if they touch.You want them touch.You just dont want the mushrooms to touch some other corals.

It all depends on what kind of lighting you have and where the mushrooms are placed in the tank.

It is perfectly fine for the mushrooms to be touching eachother.

If they are turning brinw, my best guess is that you have inadequite lighting.

Green stripe mushrooms always look brown without the 420-460nm wavelength spectrum. I would invest in some actinic bulbs, it will make all your corals "POP" with color!

would about if iget blue mushrooms would they look brown ?

actinics would only make your corals look better, not actually be better. I would invest in some 10,000-12,000k bulbs. It seems you have a 40g tank so a fixture with around 3-5 watts per gallon should do.

i just float them for 20 minutes and then put them in but i noticed when there closed they look green when they open they look a little brown like a light brown

Oh, I would have drip acclimated them, so that could be why they turned a little brown for a few days.
