Default Bubble Trap Help

Ok, time to attack the bubbles in the system. I am getting bubble si nt he main tank, mainly form the return water dumping intot he sump and the overflow from the protein skimmer. Since the sump is a large white plastic tub, it is not convenient to try and build some over/under panels. No good way to squeeze them in and even harder to try and seal them well.

I basically just need a catch on the overflows to help dissipate bubbles. Any suggestions?

I am trying to avoid the "put a filter sock over the pipe" mehtod. Did this for while and it worked well, except only lasts a day or two before the filter sock gets plugged and needs chaning. kind of a maintanence/cost pain.

The two pipes I am concerned with are 2" diameter PVC. I was thinking of using a 10 gallon aquarium or 6" piece of PVC pipe to run the overflow pipes into. my quesiton is what is the best media for filling up the reservoir I create to hlep get rid of bubbles form the system?

Does it have to be filter media, sponge, or can it be bio-balls or something? Looing for something that can be reoved and clened, not ahve to be replaced every few days.

suggestions?

STANG!

You might want to check out Melvs reef. He does some things without any media to "bust bubbles" by way of sump design.
