Welcome to RB James!

Most overflow boxes should be able to handle your pump. By the time that you add pressure losses due to friction, bends, height, etc... your pump is probably only pushing around 400 gph from the sump back up to the tank. Most overflow boxes can handle 600+ gph. Are you new to overflow boxes and how they and sumps work or did you install it and watch your tank fill up to the point that it is just below the rim and almost overflowing?

buy a valve and tee it back into your sump , that way you can control how much water is returning to your tank without putting uneeded pressure on your pump, your pump will run longer. I do agree however that your pump doesnt sound like it is to much for the overflow to handle but if it is than try this.
