Default Skimmer Pump Question

I have been looking at protein skimmer pumps on the net. With my size tank, 55 gallon, I'm seeing most protein skimmers, made for up to 150 gallon tanks, are using pumps that move about 350 to 400 gph through them.

Now, I'm making my own skimmer, with a recirculation design, so I'm looking at pumps and thinking that if I can move between 350 and 600 gph I should be good.

Anyone have an opinion or anything further I should be thinking of?

Thanks

Default Re: Skimmer Pump Question

I'm trying to work within the limits of the stand that I'm building. I want to keep everything inside of it, if possible. Right now, I figure I have 22in of useable height to play with. I have purchased 10ft of 4in, Sch40, PVC.

I'm still working out the whole design a bit, but it's coming around. LOL
