| The cement they sell for joining the PVC pipe is safe. Just be sure to let it dry at least a day before adding any water. You can get unions which will allow you to take sections of the plumbing apart.

| or you can get threaded stuff, and use the teflon tape (sp?) i am also in the process of making the plumbing for my 55 and sump. i also am using 3/4 inch and a ball valve.

| Right. In some places you'll need to use glue and in some places you can get away with threaded connections using teflon tape. I went mostly with cement but I do have some threaded pieces in case I need to take a section apart.

| I am told that the liquid thread sealer such as used on gas,water and air lines is NOT reef safe.Use the teflon tape. |

| As for your fuge location. I would put the skimmer on one end and the fuge on the other with return in the center.Have flow from both ends of the sump,slow from the fuge (under 100 gph)!/2 inch pipe and gravity can do this. and as much as you can get or need to the skimmer end. |
