I got an overflow and it is clear acrylic and i wanted to paint it black so i dont get any growth of algae of anything on it. What can i use to paint it that is reef safe? Can i use spray paint? also what is the best type of drain to use and where can i pick it up? thanks again guys

On a acrylic surface the best thing to do is to paint the outside with a paint for acrylics. the thing that I have used in the past is RC car lexan body paint. you can get it at a hobby store. the RC car lexan paint is specially formulated to adhear to the acrylic. (it's tough stuff) Spray paint will only eat away at the plastic and cause more issues. the only drawback is that you will still have alge growing on this but you will not be able to see it, or keep a manageable amount in this area. I can't say if any paint is fully reef safe but fully cured is no worse than the silicone used to hold tanks together. Good luck on your quest.
