I've made some just out of curiosity since I already have 3 Lbs/gal in my tank. The things that I noticed was that 1.) It takes a long time before it is ready to put in your tank. 2.) It is heavy if you don't add stuff in the rock like rock salt or noodles to create voids. 3.) Coraline grows good on it if you use crushed oyster shells or plastic shavings in the rock. 4.) IMO, it doesn't seem to have the critters in it like real LR does and I'd be concerned about its nitrate reducing capacity if you don't already have close to 2 Lbs/gal of true LR already.
