| So im getting a used 55 gal tank, I would like to have holes drilled for a overflow and return, How do I tell if my tank can be drilled? if it has a temperedglass sticker on bottom, is that just the bottom that is tempered? or is there another way to tell? also if i want a 1 1/4" overflow what size hole needs to be drilled for this? same for a 3/4" return? I want to do a jet/spray bar under my sand with heads popping up that can pivot to be positioned at deadspots, anyone do this? Ive tryed and couldnt find the 1 picture that I seen of someones setup.

| I just want to have 4 holes drilled in back of tank, a bigger 1 on bottom of each outside corner, and then 2 holes towards top for the returns. typically is the bottom only piece that is tempered?

| Typically, only the bottom piece is the one that is tempered. You can do the drilling yourself. The diamond tipped drill bits are readily available on ebay & are fairly inexpensive. Just be sure to use plenty of water to keep the bit cool when drilling & let the drill bit do the work - don't force it.

| It was probably my tank here is a link to the pictures http://www.reefbuilders.com/forums/r...es-date-2.html Although my setup is all contained inside the tank with pumps on the back wall behind the rock. I used 3/4 line and have great flow coming through. I figured the bigger the line the better I also put valves just after the pumps so I could restrict the flow if I wanted too (though I have not wanted to as of yet). I also used loc line for the pivot heads here is a link to a place that sells everything you need if you want to use loc line. modularhose.com - Loc-Line Modular Hose PVC is standard from a hardware store. |
