Default change of scenary

hello guys and girls, this is my first post, just joined.
i have a 50 us gallon hexagonal fish tank.been keeping marine fish in it for a number of years now with success.
im thinking of changing my fish only tank into something like a reef tank where all the rocks hug the sides of the tank and the fish swim in and out.does anyone have any ideas or pics i can look over for insperation.
thanks

well i have a hexagon too and first thing first is it a deep tank and what is the lighting type i dont keep any thing other than FOWLR (fish only with live rock) b/c its hard to light a hex b/c they are normaly deeper than a rectangle or square to say. but if u have powerful enough lighting you could get away with it.

well there are some of us daring enough to take on the task and what kind of lights do you have b/c even some of the stronger light can light up a hex that deep but if you dont it might coat and arm and a leg to buy one.another way to go is low light stuff it is out there hard to find but its there and some of them are even vary colorful as well so there is hope

Having the rock hug the sides of the tank can end up being a problem especially if something dies behind it. You end up tearing the whole thing apart to get at it. IMO try building the rock up in the center.

I'd suggest getting one of those metal halide lights that clip on the tank they are not as expensive as the huge units. Also current usa has a single light that can hang from the ceiling looks pretty cool and would be perfect for a hex tank. I am looking at getting a hex myself in the future for a possible octopus. I'm not sure yet. good luck with that.
