Hey,
I have been looking at the My Reef Creations MR-2R skimmer for my 220. I have read only great reviews for these. (Not just the MR-2R) They are pricey, but are made for industrial work load. You may want to check them out.

Google Image Result for http://www.championlighting.com/pics/proskimmerpics/mrc/mr-3rdual.jpg

That is the one I am looking at. Hope this helps

Keep us posted on what you decide.

make sure you carefully setup your aqua scaping.....I learned that aquascaping is one of the most important things in your tank..

are u doing SPS, or LPS? or both

If you are going to do sps, make it without a sand bed....

Hey Tony, just curious as to why you say if you do a SPS tank that you should do it without a sand bed?

Tank of the Month - December 2007 - Reefkeeping.com

This link will explain a bit further.....But the Idea is to have a cloud free envirnment.... I like the sandbed, but the next tank I set up will have the sandbed in the reefgium only....

Without the sandbed, the ditritus can be clean from the bottom of the tank, and it will not land everywhere...

I have to say that ditritus is a problem in any reef tank.... ditritus ends up in my sump, and rocks in the show tank.... and I have clean it off the rocks every week...

I like to have Clarity in my tank.....

Pretty big jump from a 12 gallon all the way to a custom 500. We will need pictures of it, and good luck....
