| I picked up a 75 gal for a good price I want to paint the trim black, what would be the best type of paint to use? ....empty tank.... Also I was thinking of painting the back of rear glass, is there any certain type of paint for this? Thanks in advance.

| Hey, we painted our trim black. Just sand it down. And use plastic paint. Of course tape off the inside of the tank... but mine is flawless, looks original!!

| That's what I had too! I changed that quickly, haha. I think that I just said Plastic paint. Exactly what we used, Krylon Fusion--- Plastic Etching Spray Paint. AMAZING!!! We cleaned it reallll good with rubbing alcohol. We only sanded it a little bit, with a 1500 scotch brite. The trim is holding up awesome!! For how much work/time, I am leaning on the trim getting to the bottom of the tank..Not one scratch nick water damage anything. And honestly, I wasn't being very careful with it, so that's a good thing, It holds up! Good luck ![]()

| I like the look of the painted glass also, I have only seen the blue however I think black would be much better IMO makeit look like the distant darker waters

| I agree. Maybe not black, but a very very dark blue, almost to a black.

| I have dabbled in many shades of blue and honestly they are all pretty good, I have used parade blue in heavy coats and think that was my favorite. I even tried mixing colors to make a pastel of sorts out of browns, pinks, yellows and reds... uhhhh it sucked and I had to razor blade it off and went with parade blue. black is ok, but tends to show fuzzies like algaes growing on the surface of glass itself. However, since everyones taste is different I would just say to figure out what you like and roll with it as YOU are the one who has to look at it everyday not me! LOL Whichever color is decided upon, it is well worth the more expensive paint as I found the cheapies have chipped and even came off like fruit roll ups.
