Default Diy Frozen Foods....

here is a article on making your own food, I recently started doing this after speaking to a club member who has been doing so. I noticed that my Hammer Coral opens up much bigger than before, My LTA is all over the place when I feed, zoos are way open with poylps spread out wide. I am sure you can foul up your water levels by over feeding this way so I wouldnt feed daily with it.

When I made mine I didnt have much at hand, some frozen mysis shrimp, some frozen silversides, frozen krill, some sea lettuce & pellet that I had dethawled mixed and placed in bottom of plastic bowl, broke that trying to bust up food. I like the eggcrate ideal!

Anyhow I would add what ever food you like, just make sure its stuff that the fish will actually eat or it will just become waste nutrients.

To those who are making their own fozen fish food as mentioned in the previous post; the gelatin may have been agar which is derived from seaweed instead of the Jello type which is derived from animal hooves. Also I have used Knox brand gelatin (agn the hooves type ) in cooking and never noticed an scent. Don't know if this will solve your odor problem, but the agar type may be more benificial to the fish. It can be obtained in most oriental grocery stores. It too needs to be "boiled" to soften it.
