Default frag tank

ok i just picked up a 4x8 sheet of 1/4 inch acrilic and soem glue .. i am going to make a tank to house and grow some frags .. right now i am limitedto 4ft wide .. my question is what is the best with and depth .. i am going to use a light i already have (current 4x65watt) .. i have some xeinia , zoa's and mushrooms to put in it ..

For depth, I think 16" is ideal since corals in a frag tank don't get large and you will get much better light penetration. For width, the wider the better, as long as your light gets out to the edges. I'd say somewhere between 24"-30" would be ideal.

well yes this is the begining of a build thread... i was thinking of making it 4 foot long , 16 inches wide and 16 inches high.

why not just buy a 55 gallon tank close to the same dim + save yourself the hassle of building... just my two cents.

this is what i am thinking of building .. this is a top view . tank will be 4ft x 2ft. and 16 inches high

looks like a good plan! will the skimmer area be at a lower water level than the frag areas? If not, what pump do you plan on using?

yes elliot , the skimmer will be lower then the fuge and frag areas . i am not sure on the pump yet i am going to try a mag 5 to start(have one already) and then go from there ..
