Metal Halide / Mercury vapor.

I was told that a mercury vapor ballast/ light could be used for a reef tank? Is this true? :confused:

Default Kelvin!!!

Lighting is rated on the kelvin scale. 6500K is normal day light 10000K and higher recomended for most hard corals and clams.

Some mercury vapor ballasts will also fire MH bulbs and vice versa, my magnetek MH ballasts say right on them h-37 merc. also m-58 mh. merc vapor lamps are no good for a tank as you can get them in the propor wave lengths but if you do the research you may find Mercury ballasts that will work for MH bulbs just add a couple Mogul fixture Viola MH lighting on the cheap...
