Default DIY Skimmer?

Anyone ever built their own skimmer? If so what plans did you go by? (if any)

I've thought about it many times, and have saved some links to plans that I think should be excellent skimmers, but I decided to just buy my cheap 16" dia. recirc skimmer instead. I'll send the links your way when I find the time to dig them out if you'd like.

i just started in saltwater reef keeping. i built my own skimmer to save money and i really works. i used a powerhead and a good bubbler with a wooden micro bubble stone. the skimmer chamber is a new hampster water bottle about 34ounces, with a small plastic ziploc container for a collection cup and a airline to a 2 liter bottle for over flow
also some blue filter media. i have video on youtube, search diy protein skimmer. or look up seasonofthasick for all my vids. hope i could help, feel free to ask any questions on building the skimmer.

You've never seen the Randy Stacy E pages yet Jim? With all the reading that you do, I'm surprised.

BTW Jim - Yes, I'm back. Tankless at the moment, but I'm back. It won't be long before I have a new and improved 220 going again though.
