Hey Jim, got my skimmer! (MCE600) wanted to see if it put out a little bit of bubbles the first day as it broke in.... Also, started it up like I was suposed to but, after turning the air tube to the 2 o'clock position, still makes a little air hissing noise and those bubbles out the ouflow tube, I'm assuming this is all it breaking in, just curious as to what your first day with yours was like.

Thanks.

I bought mine second hand, so it was already broken in. It usually takes a couple of weeks for a skimmer to break in.

Enjoy your new skimmer !

A couple of weeks! Yikes! I thought it was just a couple days... it's working well so far, already pulling out some good dry foam with crude in it and the water is already looking crystal clear! I'll be patient with the bubbles for now, see if that goes away after a few days.

Thanks!

Dana,

That's what I meant regarding the bubbles. Did you get the output mod ? It comes in pretty handy...not to mention you can throw in carbon or phosphate media in the media chamber.

Ok, it's been about a week now since I installed my new mce600 and it's still putting bubbles in the tank! I did not get the output mod, I have the flat piece (degasser?) and thought about throwing in a bag of carbon in there to maybe help break up the bubbles, would that work? I was hesitant to try that without seeing if someone else already tried it! What do you all think? Jim?...

I would try it, even some rubble rock may help.
