Yet another Seaclone Mod? Hello all....
I had taken the advice in a previous thread and made some mods to my Seaclone 100 skimmer and it's been doing fine.
One of the things though I had noticed, was that the Seaclone really only skims from within the tank and doesn't really do much for the surface! There always seems to be a slight amount of film. I do have the surface being broken with the return from my cannister as well as the return from my HOB fuge, but some is always there.
I had an idea I wanted to run by some more knowledgeable people here....
I have taken the intake off of my old Prizm Skimmer, which if anyone is not familiar with is a large cylinder that collects the water from the surface before being sent through the pump, and cut a hole in it on the side so that the black plug on the Seaclone that the air-tube is attached to goes through.
I am able to get this part down the tube, through the hole and attached to the pump on the Seaclone so that instead of the intake being through the foam below the water line, the intake is being skimmed from the top of the water. Does that make sense?
The basic setup is the same, except I have removed the foam, and the surface skimmer is now attached to the Seaclone.
Any thoughts as to whether or not this should make any difference?
