Default RO-DI. important thread!!!

ok guys, i finally got a RO-DI system!!!he said 80 but i said 75 and he said ok but i end up paying 60 because i didnt have change for 20!! lololol i was waiting for this day for three years! i got it from a friend that got out of the hobbie=[ he only use it for like three times. the problem is that i dont know what kind of filters have included, it comes with three canisters and the membrane, and three clear tubes on top of the membrane. im not sure what those are. i think DI resin??? barebone??? im also comfused with how much bad water comes out, its to much!! it comes with this regulator, and the product water is not as fast, it should be like that??any help.
im new with RO systems so help is needed ppl.
thanks for looking=]

IIRC the ratio is around 3 waste - 1 product water. Temp and input pressure will have an effect on it. The colder the less product water. I believe most membranes are rated at 77F. I never paid much attention to my temp. Probably why I ran a hi ratio. If it's a problem you could coil up the input tubing drop it in a bucket of water and add a heater to increase the temp.
Usually tap water passes through a sediment filter-carbon block-membrane-then splits, one line goes to DI-product water, the other line goes through a flow restrictor that matches your membrane then to waste.

Barebone sounds like a Kent Marine unit. A picture would help.

Congrats!!!! on the good deal/steal. lol

Sounds like you picked up an ebay system.

Those typically come with a 100 gpd membrane - realize those are a low rejection membrane.

The clear tubes on top of the membrane are DI resin and maybe even some GAC.

If the system is configured with GAC after the DI stages, get rid of the GAC.

Unclip the DI stages and mount them all vertically with bottom up flow.

If the system came w/o a pressure gauge, that would be a great investment.
