Icon5 Chiller W/external heater question

I just purchased an Ecoplus 1/10hp chiller. The chiller has a dual thermostat, one for the chiller and one for the external heater and has a place to plug the heater in. My question is, do I set the heater at a higher temp then desired water temp which is 78. I am assuming that when the water temp falls below 78 then the chiller is suppose to fire up the heater, is that correct? This thing came with nothing in the directions regarding a heater hookup but the thermostat has a light for when the heater kicks in. I would appreciate any information anyone can give me.

Thanks in advance
Gary

plug a lamp into the heater part.. if the lamp comes on when the thermostat falls.. the you can set the heater to a higher temp and plug it in there

I first tested the heater plug using an external light and set the temp higher than the tank temp and the light came on. My heater does not have a light so I held it in my hand hand and it kicked on immediately. There is an activity light on the chiller that shows when the chiller is on and when the heater is activated.

I did find out that the Ecoplus is the same chiller (1/10 hp) that Current USA sells, the only difference is the decals on the front. It works pretty well. With my MH on my tank was reading about 82 with the room temp at 78 and I also have 2 PC fans blowing across the water. Now my tank is running at around 78. I seem to have a +/- of 1.5 degrees which I can accept. It runs very quiet and can't hear it in my cabinet.

well... you may want to get a adapter that gives you more than one outlet. you can plug the heater in one socket and a nightlight into the other. that way you know when your heater is on or off.
