Default overhead refugium and bubbles problem

i am having a severe problem with bubbles entering the tank from the overhead refugium. i am running a 900 gph pump that is throttled way back (due to the prob) up to a 25 gallon chambered refugium. water exits through a 1 1/2" pvc pipe down to tank. i have done many mods to the pipe at rentry to tank and have drilled a hole at the top elbow for a vent. i know im not trying to reinvent the wheel here but i need to get this fixed. it is a major micro bubble problem. system has (2) 25 gallon refs but can only run one due to the prob. skimmer is in one thats not working. so i worry with the other ref. and skimmer working it will be horrible. i have the pump turned way down and only 1 powerhead working at the time. if i run more it makes the prob. worse. really need to get some water flow. how do i stop the siphon of air?

Sorry, I can't picture what you are saying. Can you post a picture?

sorry i havent gotten back to you sooner. im very busy with work and trying to fix this prob. im new here and havent looked on how to post pics yet. would it be possible for you to show me some pics or point me to some pics of overhead ref's and how they are plumbed. i have beat my head against the wall and nothing is working. basically, the water leaves the ref via 1 1/2"pvc with a "T". upper part of "T" is for breather, the water goes down pvc into the tank. have tried several pipe configurations, it just seems to suck air from the top creating a mass amount of air bubbles..thanks for your help
