Default Scwd

Any advice on using this device. I have read online that it tends to gum up. Is this a common problem? Would usng water from the sump reduce the occurence of such a problem? Any pointers would be appreciated.

3/4 or the 1" I have a 1" and the top comes off to clean it , as it does get clogged from time to time but it easy enought to clean and I usually use it as a reminder to clean other things. Just make sure you have enought gallons per hour to turn the thing . I had a mag 12 on mine but it got stuck all the time , hooked up the mag24 and it works really well . If you mount the scwd very close to the pump it will work better, but then your running to lines to the display tank if thats ok with you but mine is mouted at the top of the tank and thats 6feet up from the sump so the mag 12 had problems but he 24 works well. hope that helps

I have had mine for more than a year now and it has never stoped working. I guess that putting the scwd after the mech-filtration has stopped all the debree from getting to it and stopping it.
