euroreef protein skimmer

I have a 120 gallon saltwater tank. Everything was running fine for six months. The live sand and live rock plus damsels. Spiked phosphates then everything leveled off. Added yellow tang, blue tang black trigger and clowns x 2. Things working well. Got green algae on sides of tank. Local saltwater store sells me green algae killer. Put it in with correct levels. Return pump starts hissing like water levels low. Eruoreef protein skimmer (outside sump) is floaming over everywhere and unto floor. Check label on green algae killer and it states for fresh water use only. Opps!! Skimmer has been floaming over now for three months. As soon as I turn it on it overflows. It is a outside the sump unit. I adjust the red valve completely open and shut and it dosen't matter...floam everywhere. Fish are fine with sump and bioballs and overflow filters but I want my $800.00 skimmer to work. I made sure the air hose was open so the unit is getting air. I added carbon and proskim? bags and have done six 10% water changes!! some erurologist help me with this crazy foamage!!!

Try taking the protein skimmer and soaking it in hot water, then vinegar and then washing it out throughly. This should work.

Default skimmer

alot of cure it nows dont work. well 99% dont work. make sure you use a ro unit {no tap water} just in case, dont know your lvl of experiance. alot of cure it nows have some type of slime coat and will make skimmer's run wet. hence wtaer over flow in skimmer. stress coat does the same thing. turn skimmer off for a few days. just a thought since i dont know brand or exactly what you used

i had similar situation when i tried red slime remover....my euro overskimmed for what seemed like days....i tried several water changes and still overskimmed...finally i sat down with top off water near by and an empty 5 gal container, i just kept dumping skimmer cup everytime it filled .....i think i must have gone thru 7-8 gallons before skimmer went back to normal. good luck.
