Default Overflow Box Question

Ok, say the power goes off and all the pumps and everything stops. Then power comes back on and pumps start pumping water from my sump to my tank. How does the overflow box get the siphon going again?

Thats a great question Raymond. It depends really on what type of overflow you have. You can choose between custom and just buy a box. If you buy a box you then have the choice of the U tube (which never losses suction) or the other one that requires a Aquapump to keep it going (which is what is running on my 75 gallon)

The overflow that uses a U tube never losses suction, so as soon as there is enough water in the aquarium from your return pump in your sump, the overflow starts working again.

The overflow that uses an aquapump starts the suction again when the power is on, the pump makes the suction and then starts the overflow again.

Hope this makes a little sense, I'll probably write an article about this, and it can be confusing at times.

Ummmmm, I think it is an "C" tube type. I have ordered it but has not arrived yet. How can I send a pic on here to show you?
