| What is the stand made of - wood, particle board??? If it's wood you could possibly strip the finish using a water based stripper. However getting all the black out of the grain will be difficult. Probably best to lightly sand it & paint it another color. Be careful not to suck in any paint fumes into the tank. Turn off skimmer or anything else that sucks air into the tank.

| The stand is wood. I've done a ton of research on it it and I think the best way to go is going to be wainscoating or formica. I can" stick" it on with the stand in place without using chemicals or creating dust (so to speak). And to top it all off it's a cheaper way to do it, with a billion options. Thanks for the reply. |
