Default sump/refugium

Hello,
I am considering purchasing this. Is this a good set up for a 55gal? I am in need of both of these and together would be better. Thanks in advance. Deb eBay: 75 Gallon Aquarium sump refugium wet dry w/ skimmer (item 250107524317 end time May-02-07 13:11:20 PDT)

Tough to say - they're not giving any detailed info on the return pump or the skimmer. It also looks like they're running a 1/2" line out of the overflow which IMO is too small.

Thanks, Could a HOB refugium be of benefit? And could I use one without a sump? Thanks, Deb

A HOB refugium could be a benefit & you could use one without the sump. However I don't think it's as much of a benefit as a sump would be. The total volume of the HOB would be much smaller. The sump gives you added water volume & someplace to put your heater, skimmer, etc....
