Default Small Protein Skimmer for 40 Gallon

I have a 40 gallon Sea Clear system II aquarium that I've just set up a few weeks ago. I would like to begin setting this up as a reef aquarium, but I no longer have the protein skimmer that the system came with when I first got it a long time ago. Since the space for the skimmer in the rear tank filtration system is small, I need a skimmer that is small and can hang on the outside of the tank. I found a protein skimmer that is cheap and wondering whether it will work, since my tank is so small. Here's the link: Aquarium Systems Visi-Jet-PS Protein Skimmer #PS100

Please let me know if there are any other options for my aquarium.

Thanks!

I wouldn't buy it. They are not that good. Take a look at AquaC - they have a number of HOB skimmers & they are very good. Price however will be another issue. There are 2 pieces of equipment you don't want to skimp on - your skimmer & your lights. A Bak Pak 2 is another good choice

One would think that after all the bad press that visi jet gets it would fix that thing. So much for paying attention to the consumer.

The issue that I have is that the rear of the aquarium if actually a filteration system. It is possible to hang a skimmer if the part that hangs onto the aquarium is small, but too much power from the outward pumping tube may cause spillage over the side of the aquarium. I really wish that there was a skimer with more downward pumping and that disperses water pressure a bit smoother.

I found a replacement for the Sea Clear System II Skimmer, specifically. It is made by Venturi, who I don't know much about. It's probably not the greatest skimmer in the world, but if I'm doing regular maintenance on the aquarium do you think it will suffice?
