I've just built a 20 gallon sump and am hoping to get it finished in the near future when I can make the drive (money too!) and pick up the pump and other stuff...I'm wondering in advance how I get my overflow box started...I bought the 1400 gph one from aquatraders, has 2 1" bulkheads and was planning on just running 2 1 " lines to the sump and putting valves on the way down so I could adjust the flow of the overflow a bit...and was planning on getting the Mag 9.5 for my 55 gallon setup....The only reason I went ahead and got the 1400 gph box was for a future upgrade...hopefully a 40 gallon sump or thought of having a frag tank or something that the other 1" tube will run to...

that is a good choice in overflow box. also, how many 90 degree bends will you have leading fomr the mag to the tank? i will be getting the mag9.5 for my 600gph overflow box from aquatraders. i think a mag 9.5 will have just enough flow for the 600gph box. you may want to look into something a little larger like the mag 1800. you need to figure on head loss and the 90 degree bends.
