Default Calcium Reactor or Kalkwasser

I have been maintaining my tank for some time manually with not many issues, I work from home and can add freshly made Kalkwasser several times a day as I walk by tank. However I am starting to think of automating this. I have seen many DIY kalkwasser (Neilsen design) reactors and could easily make one. My problem starts with limited height access under the tank, so I saw the Premium Aquatics one, it is wider than I can make and therefore not as tall. It is pricy. When I then looked at Calcium reactor it was not much more - would I just want to bite the bullet and go with that? I have co2 tank and regulator leftover from beermaking days so that cuts those costs. The more I read the more I'm confused as I see folks with both the Kalkwasser reactor or doser AND the Calcium reactor - why would anyone need both???
