Back in my day we walked uphill to and from school in the snow. And we liked it. (OK, it was NYC and we took the subway, but I always wanted to use that line... and sound like my grandfather....) |
Every time I hear that story about walking uphill both ways in the snow to get somewhere reminds me of when I lived in Mammoth Lakes California. My friend actually had to do that to get to his job(coffee house) every morning before the buses even started running. Its funny because he had to go up a hill and down the other side so when he came home is was uphill again. And there was at least a new foot of snow every day there, becasue it is a ski resort. Lucky me, I didnt have to do that. I worked as a lifty and was able to catch the bus up to the lodge every day.
