Icon8 Protein Skimmer is Driving Us NUTS!!!!

We have a 33 Cube Reef Tank. Our Skimmer is a Prizm Hang on Tank Skimmer. It started out ok and we figured that for our smaller tank it would be fine.

IT HAS BECOME SO NOISY IT IS DRIVING US CRAZY!!!

We want to purchase a new skimmer today but want to get the right one. We don't have room for a sump nor do we have room for an in-tank skimmer so we are pretty much stuck with a hang on.

What is the best hang on skimmer we can get? We want one that works the best that it can but it is also important to us that it be quiet.

HELP! We keep turning up the TV to block out the noise.

Additionally, (and maybe I am wrong because we are new to this) but we are having a hard time keeping the nitrates under 20. Our LFS has tested our water and it is in really good shape. Hubby says that I am too worried about the nitrate number but I wonder if I am. I guess I wonder if the skimmer isn't working properly keeping the nitrate number up. Hubby says that it is because I overfeed.

Your nitrates could be because you are overfeeding.

But another thing, I have the CRP Bak-Pak 2 skimmer on my 20 gallon. I loove it. And if you find that it is too noisy is it just the pump, and you can just get a new pump, Mine is not noisy at all. Also- believe this skimmer is rated for more than 20g! So look into it and see what it is rated for. If anyone disagrees with me on the skimmer it won't bother me

It doesn't have a separate pump, it is built in somehow.
