Default Overdriving T-5

Has anyone had any experience "overdriving" their flourescent lighting? ReefGeek offers a higher output ballast by Icecap to increase the output of T-5's (and other bulbs) by about 50%. It cuts down bulb life to about 8-12 mos. Is it worth it?

Is this only doable with t-5 or could it also be done with PCs?

There are bulbs made by UVL that made to be t-5 vho you can get the high wattage and not be overdriving the bulbs and still get the full 2 years of service from them.
