Default Filter or no Filter

Ok I am sure tht you are wondering why in the hell we have started this saltwater hobby. That's easy....we have wanted one for years so we just jumped in... There are no shops that seem to know what in the hell they are doing in ROANOKE VA.... wE HAVE THE bIO-wHEEL Filter and it has the wheel and a screen filter, we was told not to use the screen filter becuse it would cause the nits. to build-up. so we took it out and just left the wheel. we was told that we just need the movement for the water, HELP did we do the right thing or the wrong thing?

well the wheel will work
i ran a 55 gal with a bio wheel and a hot magnum combo for years
i dont think removing the screen will hurt anything
not sure if the bio wheel alone is enough filtration though
dont know how big your tank is

There are a number of questions that need to be answered like how big is your tank, is it just fish or do you plan on keeping corals, etc.....
